About Me

I am a Special Day Class PreKindergarten Teacher in Southern California. Our class is non categorical, and we have a wide range of learners. Preschool is where the action is, and special education preschool is no exception! My students are just like any other preschool aged child. They love to sing, dance, read, and play (they just may do it a little differently).

Before entering SpEd, I taught PreK for normally developing children learning English. During my time as a regular ed teacher I was able to access tons of websites and information in regards to curriculum, etc; however, I realized once I started at my current placement, that there is far less catered to the world of early intervention special education. I hope to share some of the things we are doing in my classroom, and hope to find feedback from other teachers/parents as well!

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. I am thrilled I found your blog! I teach the same kind of classroom in New York and although I love reading Kindergarten and other grade-level blogs, I was both shocked and completely excited to find someone with a blog from the same kind of classroom that I teach, which is my passion. I look forward to reading this regularly!

  2. Shana,

Welcome! I am excited you found me :) Do you have a blog somewhere too?! I feel the same way about blogs. There are limited resources for special ed Prek style, which is why I decided to start writing about what we were doing in my classroom. Most of the blogs I was following were kinder aged too. There are some great preschool blogs too, but their stuff doesn't always fit for my "special" leaners (not to say I don't following them and adpating their stuff to fit my needs, but it's not the same as them coming from a teacher who knows a Sped teacher's viewpoint-- right?!) I am the ONLY sped prek teacher in my district which can get lonely! So hopefully you gain some stuff from me and vice versa.
